Hairdressing

This qualification is designed as an Introduction to the Hairdressing and Barbering industry.

Choosing this qualification demonstrates you have an interest in current trends in hairdressing and barbering and have a desire to pursue a role with creativity which requires a high degree of dexterity.
You will support more experienced stylists while working within a commercial environment, and complete a range of smaller services, while developing the basic skills needed to support a lifetime career within the industry

This course consists of 6 units:

  • Prepare and maintain work areas   
  • Shampoo and condition hair
  • Blow dry hair
  • Teamwork
  • Assist with colour removal
  • Reception

Each unit has both and written assessment requirements, all must be completed in order to achieve the qualification

Learners will be required to undertake 35 hrs of experience of work in the hairdressing /barbering industry.

Work experience will allow you to gain a valuable insight into the expectations of working in the hair and barbering industry  

Learners are also expected to gain experience in a realistic salon environment onsite at college, working as a junior stylist assisting both Level 2 and Level 3 students.to aid with their knowledge and progression.

Learners will earn Minimum wage for 16- 18 yrs.  -currenlty £4.05 per hour when entering employment

If learners progress onto an Apprenticeship  16-18 yrs - £3.50 per hour
