Health, Care and Early Years

This course is a level 2 NQF Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care (1year). This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills that will enable you to go directly into work in the health and social care industry, an apprenticeship or to progress to the level 3 Technical Diploma in Health and Care or other related level 3 course. The course will give you the opportunity to gain a broad understanding and knowledge of the underpinning values and skills in the health and social care industry. It consists of a total of 10 units and includes a requirement to complete 35 hours work placement.

Course is assessed by written coursework, practical tasks both classroom and online and two exams that each have the opportunity for one resit.   

Students must complete a minimum of 35 hours work experience however they are encouraged to complete more hours as this assists with embedding theory into practice.
Progress to a Level 3 Technical Diploma in Health and Care, apprenticeship in health or social care, progression to level 3 qualifications in other related sectors, such as Early Years. It can also offer a potential opportunity to enter employment to junior roles in the health and social care sector.

  • Study a core qualification in a vocational discipline and continue to develop your English and Maths skills through functional skills, GCSE resits and the option of Level 3 qualifications

  • Enjoy a range of enrichment opportunities e.g. basketball, archery, skiing and sign language
  • Take part in dedicated tutorial sessions to review your progress and development
