An Oldham College learner has won a competition run by Oldham Central Primary Care Network to redesign their logo.
Aeryn Harwood, a Level 2 Graphic Design learner at the time of the competition, was named the eventual winner, beating competition from first- and second-year learners.
A celebration event was held at Oldham College’s Digital and Creative Centre in December, where Aeryn was presented with a prize by Cllr Zahid Chauhan, current Mayor of Oldham.
Aeryn’s design will now be used at 13 different GP surgeries across the Oldham Central area.

The Oldham Central Primary Care Network (OCPCN) is comprised of 13 GP practices across the borough. The network was formed to improved patient access to services and expanding the services on offer.
OCPCN contacted the College for help with creating a logo that aligns with their primary focuses of Community, Multiculturalism and Care.
All Graphic Design learners took part in this competition, pitched as a 2-week brief during the summer term.
As well as seeing her design used in a real-world setting, OCPCN has also provided Aeryn with a high-end drawing tablet as a prize to aid her future studies.
Aeryn said: “This has been a huge confidence boost for me. The experience has shown me that I have a real chance of building a career in Graphic Design using the skills I’ve developed in College.”
Callum Mellor, Programme Tutor for Graphic Design, said:
“The competition was a great opportunity for our students to work with a real-world client. OCPCN has been fantastic in communicating their needs, and went above and beyond in their prizegiving on the brief by providing the winner with a high-end drawing tablet.
“I look forward to many more opportunities for our students to work with OCPCN and other like-minded businesses and groups, and for people outside of Oldham College to see just how talented our students are.”
