Blake’s apprenticeship with Oldham College and Bladen Electrical has helped him gain the essential skills he needed to further his career.
“I wanted to do an apprenticeship as my Dad owns an electrical company and I wanted to follow the family business,” says Blake. “The apprenticeship allows me to work for my Dad at Bladen Electrical whilst I’m learning essential skills.
The apprenticeship has helped Blake to develop a whole range of knowledge, skills and behaviours – both the technical skills needed to become an Electrician, and softer skills that will help Blake to succeed in the world of work.
“I’ve worked on my communication skills and self confidence during my time on the course,” he says. “I’ve enjoyed the classes at the College as I’ve met a lot of people who are working towards the same thing as me. I’ve learnt lots about the regulations and laws around being an electrician. I’m looking forward to qualifying!”
