Within the Faculty of Caring Professions we offer the following qualification for those who wish to embark on a career in the health sector.
Access to Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions
This course will be of interest to you if you would like to start your professional career by undertaking an under-graduate degree in one of the many careers available to you within the health sector. As part of the course you will study twenty modules relating to the following subject areas:
This is a full-time course and you will be required to attend college approximately three days per week, and undertake online modules and an independent study day. You are also strongly advised to undertake voluntary work, work experience or employment (where possible), relating to your career plan. This will support your application to university, and provide you with relevant employability skills.
Entry requirements (you must have obtained these prior to enrolling on the course).
5 GCSE grades A-C or 4-9 (including English and maths). In recognition of typical university entry requirements for 2021/22 we do not accept functional skills level 2 as an equivalent.
PLEASE NOTE: there are variances in entry requirements throughout local and national universities, and you should check the entry requirements at your preferred university/universities before applying.
The Awarding Body for our Access to HE course is Open Awards.
The course is internally assessed and externally quality assured. You will be assessed on each module throughout the academic year, using a variety of methods which will include written assignments, reports, research, one exam and presentations.
This course is designed to provide you with the qualification you require to advance onto a range of undergraduate degree courses, including adult nursing, mental health nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics and paramedic training.
For those wanting to enter employment, these qualifications may act as a stepping stone into jobs/careers within the health and social care sectors.
