Bianca is a current student on the first-ever T Level Legal Services cohort at Oldham College, starting in September 2024. She chose a T Level as the course offered a combination of classroom learning and work placements.
“My goal is to work in Law, and experience is really important in the Law environment,” Bianca says.
“By doing a T Level, I am being exposed to new experiences and skills that I would not have been by just studying.
“For example, this year I will gain experience writing letters to clients, filling in court forms and much more that will help me prepare for my future ambitions.”
Exploring the world of work has been the highlight of Bianca’s experience so far – and each encounter on her work placement has taught her something new.
A T Level Industry Placement is a minimum of 315 hours, or 45 days, to be completed by the end of the course. They are designed to give learners an authentic experience of the workplace.
“I have completed some work placement hours at Allianz Insurance, which I have really enjoyed.
“During the 4-week placement, I had the opportunity to explore a new industry and work on presentations and tasks that have substantially improved my abilities and knowledge.
“I have since started a new placement at Spark to complete my remaining placement hours. I will practice the skills I have gained from past work experience, and further develop my skills.”
Bianca’s career ambition is to become a Solicitor – and the Legal Services T Level is her first step.
“I am still deciding which area I would like to work in. The T Level is helping with this, as I am being exposed to so many different areas of Law.
“The real-life work tasks are helping me to figure out what I will enjoy most – and the work placements, along with courts and law firm visits, have given me a clear view of the world of work.”
