Congratulations to the four groups of staff and learners who have completed our Deaf Awareness and Basic Sign Language programme this term!
This six-week course is provided for free to Oldham College staff and learners by the Additional Learning Support (ALS) Team.
The course gives all participants an insight into the importance of effective communication and how to sign a basic introductory conversation.
Amy Smith, ALS Communication Support Officer, says:
“The purpose of this training is to increase public understanding of the deaf community, their culture, and the issues and barriers they face.
“Deaf Awareness and BSL allows students and staff across College to learn a new language, understand different types of deafness and promotes inclusion.
“Well done to everyone who has completed their Deaf Awareness programme this term – you should be proud!”
