All new learners interested in Barbering start on the Level 2 Diploma in Barbering. You will study theoretical aspects of the subject and apply them during practical assessment tasks.

Colour and Lighten hair
Provide perming services
Dry and finish men's hair
Create an image based on a theme
This qualification is aimed at learners aged 16-18 who need to achieve English and math's GCSE grades 3-9.
For learners who just fall short of the Level 2 entry requirements we offer an introduction via the Skills & Employability pathway. This qualification is a support role within a commercial Hair or Barbering type environment and includes a variety of basic Hair and Barbering skills such as shampooing, hair and scalp consultation, basic styling.
This qualification will prepare learners to progress onto Level 2 Hairdressing or Barbering.

Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Barbering
All new learners interested in Barbering start on the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Barbering. You will study theoretical aspects of the subject and apply them during practical assessment tasks.

Level 3 Diploma in Barbering covers advanced practical skills and essential knowledge for working within the barbering industry.

Shaving and facial massage service
This qualification is aimed at learners who have previously achieved English and math's GCSE grades 3-9/ A-D.

For Level 3 qualifications, ALL grade levels carry UCAS points to support progression to higher education.
There will be costs associated with the kit and salon uniform required for the course.
Work Experience is an essential part of all full time study programmes. Learners complete a minimum 35 hours within an industry linked environment per academic year/qualification

The Level 2 Diploma in Barbering is aimed at learners looking to start a career in the Barbering industry. Learners could progress into employment, onto an Apprenticeship or further their studies by taking a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Barbering
Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Barbering is aimed at learners looking to start a career in the Barbering industry. Learners could progress into employment, onto an Apprenticeship or further their studies by taking a Level 3 Diploma in Barbering.
Other Level 2 pathways could broaden their career opportunities such as Level 2 Beauty Therapy (male grooming) or Ladies Hairdressing.
The Level 3 Diploma in Barbering provides you with a range of specialist technical skills and knowledge that will equip you to seek employment or further training within the Hairdressing industry.

If you are aged between 16 and 18 when you start your course and are taking a course leading to a qualification, the tuition and exam fees are free. However, there may be some additional costs for optional trips, recommended text books and professional start up kits. We have a bursary scheme to assist with these costs.

Once we receive your application, you will be invited in to speak to a tutor or a member of the Apprenticeship team to discuss your application.
