I chose to do an apprenticeship at Oldham College because I knew that I would receive ongoing support from my tutors, that would help me work towards achieving my career goals.
I have learned the appropriate legislation and health and safety guidelines related to the dental environment. I have also gained knowledge on dental and regional anatomy.
Additionally, I developed communication skills, clinical skills, health promotion and patient management techniques.
Whilst at work I ensured that my behaviour was outstanding by working in an ethical, professional and responsible manner.
Learning with my peers and sharing our work experiences, as this gave me a support network and made me feel that I wasn’t in this apprenticeship alone.
The support from Oldham College and from my employer has been outstanding.
I knew that if I needed any help, whether that was related to work or to my assignments, I could openly speak about the issue with my tutors, managers or head nurse.
I would like to progress in my dental nurse career, and become a dental implant nurse or orthodontist nurse.
