Course: Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) Diploma Level 3

Start Dates: You can start this course at any time during the year. Typically it will take 18 months to achieve.

Delivery Method: Currently classes for this course are on a Wednesday or Thursday afternoon.  However, this is subject to change. This diploma also has 1:1 assessment and mandatory observations of practice in the workplace.  According to demand a twilight session may be available.

Course Aims

This course provides 19 early years workers with the opportunity to gain the required level 3 industry qualification, supporting the need to increase the number of qualified early years educators in the workforce.  It enables progression from level 2 qualifications for individuals already working in the sector.  This course will provide the industry required knowledge, behaviours and skills for safe working with babies and children in an early years setting.

What will I study?

Over the duration of this course you will develop the knowledge, behaviours and skills required for work and care for children from birth to 5 years, and you will gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.  You will learn about safeguarding and protection, and the legislation and quality standards the sector operates within.  You will learn about the Early Years Foundation stage standards for learning and development. You will develop industry required knowledge skills and behaviours around 4 key themes: Health and well-being; Play, development and learning for school readiness; Legislation, frameworks and professional practice.

How will I be assessed?

This course will be assessed through a range of methods such as assignments, observation and professional discussion.  It is internally assessed and external quality assured.

Entry requirements

Typically you will have prior knowledge and experience of working in this sector.  Ideally you will have a minimum of Level 2/Grade 4 in English and or maths.  For this qualification you are likely to be employed or have an employer willing to support a work placement with level 3 work activities for minimum 16 hours per week for the duration of the course.
