Five people holding Christmas presents.

Almost 200 gift donations to Xmas appeal

Our Early Years Team’s latest Christmas Appeal has received a heart-warming haul of generous donations from staff, students and partners.

This has now produced a stack comprising more than 180 gifts for the Children’s Unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital and the Chadderton Health Visiting Team.

Samantha Winchester, Programme Tutor, said:

“Our Early Years Team has previously worked in a range of different settings including children’s centres, nurseries, schools and health settings. We’ve all seen the impact of deprivation and of children being ill over the festive period and wanted to support the community at this time of the year.”

“Courtney, one of our learners, took it upon herself to continue this appeal in her placement setting, Beulah Pre-School in Hollinwood, where parents donated five big bags of presents!”

Families and parents at Auntie Anne’s Childminding took the same approach and have also donated more than 30 presents.

Samantha added: “We’re overwhelmed by the amount of donations received – and they are still coming in!”

Staff and students delivered 60 presents on Monday and will be visiting the Royal Oldham Hospital with more on Thursday. As well as helping out members of the local community, our learners have gained personal development skills they can take into practice, such as organising age-appropriate resources.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to this appeal – your contribution has truly made a difference.
