So far, our students have completed work experience for photography clients, mural projects and community projects.

How will I be assessed?

How Will I Be Assessed?

You will be continuously assessed in a variety of ways to establish what you have learnt from each unit and assignment.

To ensure you are ready for a demanding and successful career in art and design, many of your assessments are in line with the industry expectations. This means you will pitch your ideas, present planning documents that meet professional standards for your intended outcomes and curate exhibitions for specific target audiences.

With each project, you will be asked to produce a sketchbook of research and experiments leading towards a final piece, this is formally assessed with a presentation and exhibition. Your feedback will be kept on our digital assessment platform at final assessment points. While one to one tutorials will discuss your progress and set you stretching targets to ensure you are always aiming high and making good progress.

Your final grade is established through your final major project (FMP), where you will use a selection of the skills and techniques that you have learnt, practised and developed on the course. You will design & create an exhibition piece of your own choosing. This project is examined by external moderators and is exhibited for your peers and tutors to assess.

What will this lead to?

Majority of students who study Art and Design aren’t always sure at first what path to go down. After completion of Level 3, progression options include university, apprenticeship, or full time employment. You will also have the opportunity to study on our foundation art & design course that advances your skills to a high level to support your choice of degree and to create a high class portfolio for those who want to spend more time considering their options and making a portfolio to compete at the most prestigious of University courses.

For those who go straight to university, students generally choose higher education courses such as Fine Art, Illustration, Curating, Art History, Graphics, Games Design, Visual Communication, Art Therapy. Employment usually stems from self-employment producing work for agencies, companies and private collectors; these are widely available in artist networks, education/youth groups and art studios exhibitions.
