What will I study?

T Level Digital Infrastructure with Foundation year

Want to work as a digital technical specialist in a large organisation, E Commerce or help businesses with their data, digital marketing or web analytics? Enrol on this NEW generation of Gold Standard qualifications that offer an attractive technical alternative to studying 3 different A Levels.

Rapid developments in technology have brought with them a range of digital jobs, meaning that there are lots of opportunities to climb the career ladder and work for some great companies along the way. Developed by the Institute of Apprenticeships; employers such as Fujitsu, Accenture and Lloyds Banking Group; and the Department for Education, this T Level is aimed to get you work ready for a career in digital.

You will:

  • Apply procedures and controls to maintain the digital security of an organisation and its data
  • Explain, install, configure, test and manage both physical and virtual infrastructure
  • Discover, evaluate and apply reliable sources of knowledge

This two-year course offers you the chance to become ready for employment or further study, and the chance to develop the knowledge, concepts and theories related to specific job roles such as Network engineer, Infrastructure engineer, Data center administrator and System admin. It includes:

  • Digital industry core theory, concepts and skills.
  • Digital Business Service specialist skills and knowledge.
  • an industry placement with an employer lasting at least 45 days
  • a minimum standard in Maths and English.

You will learn through a number of core and occupational specialist units related to digital business service topics.

You will learn how to use technology to interpret data, in order to maximise business productivity and profit, or to analyse data to communicate to audiences - taught through practical project work, classroom workshops and an industry placement with a digital company of at least 45 days.

This combination of learning ensures that you have a rich technical knowledge and accelerates your ability to apply your learning in the workplace becoming part of a team of digital experts. Within your course, you'll attend masterclasses and industry experts visits to businesses, and be guided by your own industry mentor.

If you are keen to progress onto our Infrastructure T Level but haven’t quite got the grades, or if you need that little bit longer to develop your skills and knowledge before making the step to a T-Level, then completing a Foundation year is perfect for you.

The T-Level Digital Foundation year is specifically designed to develop your skills, experience, knowledge and behaviours to support progression onto T Level. It is aimed at those learners who are not quite ready to start a T Level but have the potential to progress onto one

How will I be assessed?

Assessment of your knowledge skills and understanding will be through an externally set exam (2 papers) and an employer set project that covers the core units, and a project which will include:

  • internally assessed projects
  • presentations
  • practical assessments
  • building a portfolio.

Collaborative learning means you'll work with your peers to problem solve, design, implement and test software in our purpose built labs, Agile workshop and classrooms.

What will this lead to?

Students who achieve this qualification could progress to the following, depending on their chosen occupational specialism:

• employment
• higher education
• apprenticeship

A Digital Infrastructure T Level can lead directly into employment in roles such as Server Technician and Network Analyst.

If you wish with to study at university, this T level attracts UCAS point scores equal to 3 A Levels.
