You will study English/ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) at Pre-entry, Entry level 1- 3 or Level 1 or 2, dependant on the outcome of your language assessment, which you will need to do before you can enrol.

The course focuses on English at your level using a wide range of topics e.g neighbourhood and community, hobbies and free-time, work and jobs, life in the UK, social media, family and friends, shopping, travel and transport and health.

You will develop your English skills in speaking and listening, reading and writing alongside grammar and vocabulary.

Some classes will focus on your personal development and welfare and cover topics including: citizenship, staying safe on-line, hate crime and health and wellbeing.

There will be opportunities for various educational visits during the year.

Classes are part-time and are 4-6 hours a week.

Specific maths classes for ESOL adults are also available.  Once you have a place on the course your teacher will give you more information on how to enrol.

How will I be assessed?

Your teacher will set tests to check your progress and you will be given regular homework to complete.

Learners will take ESOL exams in speaking and listening, reading and writing and Functional Skills maths.

What will this lead to?

You will be able to move to the next level of study to develop and improve your English and Maths up to level 2.

Once you achieved your English and Maths at Entry 3/Level 1 you will be able to apply for a range of courses in college. This includes vocational courses, functional skills English and GCSE.
