Intermediate Apprenticeship Hair Professionals/Stylist - Level 2
You will gain skills and knowledge in the following areas:
You will carry out shampooing and conditioning the hair and scalp, styling and finishing hair to create a variety of looks, colouring and lightening hair, basic colour correction, and perming and cutting hair using a range of techniques.
As a Stylist, you will be required to demonstrate the following skills:
Entry requirements: English and Maths grades 3-9 or A-D, or working towards Functional Skills Level 1.
What will I achieve?
You will attend College 1 day per week and spend a minimum of 30 hours in the work place.
In College, you will study maths and English and different aspects of hairdressing theory, which will help you to develop a good understanding of the hair industry. Demonstration and practice classes will enable you to practice your skills as a Stylist in our industry-standard salons.
Compulsory kit and uniform cost:
Advanced Apprenticeship Creative Hair Professionals/Senior Stylist - Level 3
This Apprenticeship is designed for those who have completed a relevant Level 2 Hair Professionals NVQ, and want to enhance their creative skills and take on a more responsible position at work.
You will learn how to creatively cut, lighten and dress hair and undertake colour corrections, how to create a collection of looks, and straightening and smoothing services.
You will learn how to build up and retain clients, provide client consultation services and referrals, and support junior members of a team. You will be required to plan and organise a promotional event, focusing on client retention, retail and service sales and how respond to client feedback.

Assessment takes place within College, in the work placement and at the end point assessment (EPA).
Continuous assessment includes:
Progression for a Stylist can include working in salons, hair and makeup work in TV/film or as a self-employed freelance stylist.
Progression for a Senior Stylist can include Hairdressing or Barbering in a variety of salons, becoming an Assessor by completing the PTTLS course (Preparation for Teaching in the Long Life Learning Sector) or working in hair and make up to work in TV/film.
Employment can be found in the following areas:
Opportunities for freelance work or self-employment are unlimited for motivated individuals who want to run their own business.
