The Supported Internship is an employment-based course open to students with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) between the ages of 18 and 24 years old. It provides a combination of taught sessions and work experience placements and provides opportunities to learn work skills and build confidence in a real place of work. After the supported placements finish, it is hoped that Interns will secure paid employment, either at their place of work or with local employers or will progress on to meaningful voluntary work in the community.
The course runs for one academic year, four days per week. Each Intern will work towards an Employability Certificate or Award at the appropriate level. Interns will also work towards maths and English qualifications, from mini qualifications up to GCSE level.
You will work in small groups with highly qualified and experienced Tutors and Job Coaches who will support you on work placements. You will receive support from your own Personal Tutor, who will closely monitor your progress to ensure that your learning journey stays on track. We have strong links with family and professionals, who will be involved in all aspects of your development.
The programme focusses on personalised targets based on meeting the needs of students' EHCP outcomes.
