Football match raises £1,600 for men’s mental health charity

OLDHAM College staff’s charity football match versus Men United Against Suicide Football Club (MUASFC) raised a fantastic £1,600 towards this great cause.

The OC team was coached by Simon Jordan, Principal, and had put a lot of effort into their preparations ahead of this fixture before showing great camaraderie on the field last week.

The fans who turned up in great numbers also added to a terrific atmosphere at the FC United ground.

An evenly-contested first half saw the OC side initially take the lead, but a second-half change of tactics then saw MUASFC step up their game.

The host’s experienced line-up showcased their quality after the break and they eventually emerged as worthy winners in a 6-3 scoreline.

Undaunted, our OC team has already set sights on winning next year’s trophy.

Danielle Vipond, Event Organiser, and Programme Tutor, said: “Despite not winning, the OC team can take real pride in their performance and the contribution they made to this fantastic event.”

“They all played with great spirit and determination and showed their commitment to the cause. Thank you to everyone who came along to support both sides.”
