Oldham College has joined forces with national experts to raise awareness of the exciting opportunities offered by the education and skills system to all employers.
This initiative with Gatsby Charitable Foundation and the Strategic Development Network sees the launch of two new guides which aim to support local and regional businesses in understanding how to tackle emerging skills issues – and grow their future workforce – with the backing of technical and higher education experts.
‘The Education Landscape: A Guide for Employers‘ has been created to help employers quickly get to grips with their options for working with Oldham College and the direct benefits to their business.
This resource is designed to bridge any knowledge gap by showing how changes to the education and skills system are focused on meeting employers’ needs: including helping to address skill shortages, tackling fast-paced technological changes and meeting new requirements to manage environmental impacts. It also explains how technical education is transforming to meet business demands for access to new talent and the skilled employees needed for future growth through apprenticeships, T Levels, Higher Technical Qualifications and more.
‘The Index‘ is an accompanying guide offering a comprehensive list of different activities that employers may wish to engage with across education – plus an appraisal of the key benefits and estimated time commitments.
Alan Benvie, Oldham College, Vice Principal, said: “The education and skills landscape is constantly transforming in response to economic change and we understand that can make it hard for busy employers in all sectors, and of all sizes, to keep up to speed with how we can help them to achieve their goals.
“These are localised versions of guides that the Gatsby Charitable Foundation has co-produced with leading business bodies including the British Chamber of Commerce, Institute of Directors, CBI and more.
“They quickly break down terminology barriers for employers by explaining education and skills developments in ways that are directly relevant to their own concerns and planning – and they also explain the wide range of ways all businesses can work alongside Oldham College and University Campus Oldham as they plan for future success.”
The Oldham College versions of The Education Landscape and The Index are free and can be downloaded now. Hard copies are also available on request.
